MARCH 2007
HONDURAS TRIP

Wow! What a trip and what a great blessing from the Lord! Many of you know
of the blessing of the Lord on our last opportunity to the country of
Honduras. We have been praying for more than two years for the opportunity
to visit the country of Honduras. We wanted to see the work in that area of
Central America and to know of the need there. Just about 9 days before the
Calvary Baptist Church of Simpsonville was to make a mission trip to
Honduras a couple in the group could not go they offered their seats to
someone else in the church. The Lord directed the organizers of the trip to
offer it to us knowing of our desire to go. We needed three hundred dollars
for exchanging the tickets and about two hundred dollars for extra expenses;
some known and some not. Within 24 hours we had received promises of this
money and our trip was on.
The Lord really answered prayer and taught us much about church-planting and
the work that they have with the needy children there and in Nicaragua. The
Good Samaritan mission began helping the children of great need after Joan
Tyson was especially moved for the condition of one little girl which opened
her eyes to the needs of many. What first started with a desire to get at
least one good meal, books for school, and uniforms for school, has now
turned into 38 feeding kitchens, schools, and a program of helps from the
USA to provide daily needs of hundreds of children. The main elementary
school and the high school have over 1200 students with other school around
the country and in Nicaragua. You know that Teresia became very concerned
for a group of 32 children in El Salvador and we sent clothes to help пїЅThe
Least of TheseпїЅ. The shipment of clothes was to cost about $850.00. The
customs offices there seemingly have held the clothes for ransom and the
cost now stands at about $1500.00. The last $400.00 we just got word of and
we need to send that amount to them. Pastor Armando told me that he
borrowed the money and we assume now has the clothes. We will pay the other
$400.00 because the church there does not have the money. But as you can
see this is not going to work very well. The program in Nicaragua works
when a family here in the USA takes on the needs of a child, boy or girl,
and sends $30.00 every month to cover helping them. This might be a way to
go and buy the supplies there. The church in San Vicente and the pastorпїЅs
wife will be handling the ministry in that church. If any can help us with
the final $400.00 that will be greatly appreciated and we are open to
suggestions on how we can continue to provide necessary help to these young
children.
The whole week there in Honduras we visited churches that have been started
by many of the graduates of the programs there, the Opportunity children,
the schools or school help, and the Bible Institute. I was told that they
had about 300 churches in Honduras and Nicaragua.
While in Nicaragua we had the extreme joy of meeting with some 40 to 50
pastors. Many of these men had pastored through the communistпїЅs power and
suffered harshly under communism. They had remained faithful and still
pastor in that country. One pastor who has the пїЅLion of the JungleпїЅ church
had his son killed by the communists and was beaten himself almost to death
for preaching the Gospel. I felt humbled by their great sacrifice for the
cause of Christ and grateful to be in their presence. While there Pastor
Stan Rupe, one of the pastors of Calvary Baptist, preached and Tim
translated. We saw some great decisions made for God and 5 who gave
testimony of accepting Christ as Savior.
I received invitations to return to Honduras and we are praying that God
would continue to open these doors as He sees fit. We also desire to
continue our work in El Salvador and Mexico as we seek to plant churches and
walk through any door that God might open for us. In order to do that, we
need your help. I believe our philosophy of aggressive church-planting is
what is needed in missions today and is the future emphases that is needed
in the 21st century. We are excited about the many open doors that God is
giving but need the adequate finances to accomplish these great tasks. I
know that where God guides He provides. He provides that through His
children just like you. We are trying to introduce this ministry into many
new churches and to encourage those who are truly behind us to prayerfully
increase support where possible. It is a great work and we need you to join
hand in hand with us to finish the job.
Coming home was also interesting as we were held in Tegucigalpa for an extra
2 пїЅ hours because of the lightning that hit the control tower in Houston.
We arrived in Houston to late to catch our adjoining flight and didnпїЅt get
home until the next day, the 13th.
Thank you for your prayer and we thank the Lord for His guidance and
protection.

In His Service

Tim and Teresia Hendricks
